The story so far

Hi Moonwatcher,

Sounds like you are getting good Psa results,I am also going down the Brachytherpy road had mine in September 2016 and have had my first Psa results from my nurse as they canceled my first appointment with the Specialist that i was not to happy about but as the psa has dropped  from 2.19 to 0.81 I will just have to wait for another appointment.

I have not heard of the seeds on a string so will be on the list for when i get the next appointment.I wish you luck on your journey but please keep us all up to date with your results.

John.

John
PSA around 0.8 is an excellent reading. The seeds on a string idea is to stop you passing the odd one or two over a period of time.

I have stopped taking Tamsulosin now with no apparent effects.

I have an appointment with the Urology Department next week for a checkup and then expect periodic blood test from then on!

Updates to follow

Hi All
The good news is that my local General Hospital (Urology Dept) have now discharged me, I am now subject to 6 monthly blood tests, my consultant said there is no reason to come back unless my PSA level goes above 3.5, he did add that that is extremely unlikely

Great news for both of you .

I was diagnosed High risk locally advanced T3b, in December aged 62, and had HT from February. Then High Dose Brachytherapy in July and External Beam Radiotherapy ,23 sessions,July/August.

My original PSA was 26.7 , before Radiation ! I was down to 2.0 and then just a few weeks after EB Radiotherapy it went down to 0.37 . So I have till December 2019 on the HT and after that I will find out if it’s all worked . I know it will take time for the HT to leave my body so it’s a waiting game, and dealing with this damned HT.

Can’t fault the hospital so far ....

best of luck and hope the drop continues. Keep posting your progress. It’s great to hear of some success amongst a lot of sadness.

Good news Moonwatcher looks like we are both chasing the numbers, lets hope it continues.Overall i seem to be winning still taking the little blue pill and a blood pressure tablet and still get up once or twice a night but i used to for many years before detection.

My next blood test is in January 19 so not long to wait.

Regards John.

Hi Moonwatcher, I found your thread by accident and I am glad I did, I am 57 diagnosed with PC on 12/2/20, given the various options for treatment and I am having a telephone consultation with the Brachytherapy specialist on the 9th April so I am glad to see all the positive comments on here about the treatment so thanks to you and the others for the updates etc

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brachy, I was talking to a complete stranger yesterday (keeping a social distance) purely by chance he too was diagnosed when he was 60, Brachy at the Christie and his cancer is no more, go for it
