Hello again  ... time for an update

11th Mar 2022 PSA <0.1 and Alkaline Phosphatase 143 so everything still under control

However, on 29th Jan this year I fell heavily in a supermarket car park and broke right femur just below the ball joint!! This required the insertion of an IM nail and was discharged at 11pm on the 11th Feb (my birthday)

Am now slowly recovering at home

Best wishes and good luck to all my fellow travellers

Hi Tom,

Good to hear you are keeping the PSA down but not so good on the falling bit, I think the age bit is catching up with both of us Tom I am not due for my next psa till later in the year so the nerves will start again in a few months.

I thought i was getting away from the doctors surgery and hospitals but i felt a bit rough and my blood pressure monitor was picking up atrial fribulation so after seeing doctor have Hospital appointments  for possible monitor and in the meantime they have put me on statins and folic acid because of thick blood i thought the folic acid was for pregnancy. Also said cut the alcohol too that's all that was keeping me going but I will have to give it a try

Good luck Tom and regards to your wife.

John.

Hi John ..Apologies for the late reply but so sorry to hear that you are starting to have peripheral problems. Like you say we are no longer "spring chickens"!! At least we have reached our mid 70's so every year survived from now on is a bonus!!
My broken Femur has severely resricted my movement ,,, been out only twice since with my physio to practice with my 4-wheel walker but we are getting there slowly. Looking forward to a week at a Warners Hotel on 1st April
Take care and good wishes to yourself and wife ,,, hope it's not too serious

Let me jump into this conversation, John. I fully understand how you feel about always being involved in hospital and medical stuff in general, so sorry for that. Just wanted to tell you that my husband has had atrial fibrillation for quite a few years. He's now on HT and RT due to PC relapse, as well as on medication for his atrial fibrillation. So far so good. I mean, as long as you follow your doctor's rules it's ok, do not panic. Just have it controlled.

As for statines I guess they are related to high cholesterol, I also take them myself. And then folic acid... We're not pregnant but we go old, John. Lack of biochemical resources often come, I'm afraid this is a tribute we must pay for having arrived at this old age.

My intention in to encourage you. Coping with desease is not fun of course, but don't feel so scared about your atrial fibrillation. My OH is 73. Right now he's working really hard in the garden. Cheer up!

Best to all of you,

Lola

Hi Lola,

Thanks for your comments on A F but it's just another thing to keep me on my toes. I am not worrying about it to much and will take the advise of the doctor and try to loose weight and adjust food and drink in the future.I think the last few years with elderly parents to look after the Covid lockdown and the wife's hip replacement has stopped us traveling down to Spain in the winter and getting a better life with the sun and exercise in our Motorhome. I think the P C is the thing to keep your eye on but so far my psa is stable after five and a half years so i will take my pills and with the better weather coming i can get the weight off chasing my wife's mobility scooter.

Good luck with husband's treatment in the future.

John.

We have had some good news this week that the Granddaughter is having a baby next may so something to look forward to.

A bit early but have a great Christmas to you and Colette.

It sounds well !

I've been reading your profile and bio. This desease sucks but, in your case, I'm glad to see you're coping with it. And I also have observed that you're quite a sensitive and compassionate person; your care and feel sad for those who are not doing well. Congrats on being that way.

My husband's also in this journey, I totally emphasize with you as well as with all the guys and wives here. Sharing feelings helps, doesn't it?

I hope you continue to do well xx                               Lola.

Hi Tom,

Good to see you are keeping it all under control with your other medical needs and hope  Colette is looking after you, my numbers are keeping steady with next psa due in September and apart from a hospital visit to check what i believed was some sort of bleed in my vision that they don't seem to worried about alls well and we have started traveling a bit more in the motorhome.Keep well Tom.
