Post brachytherapy PSA

Hi ,

I had prostrate cancer  some time ago with a Gleason score of 3+4, T2 , size 35cc and a prior to op PSA of 6.3.

I had low dose brachytherapy treatment in Aug 2015.

Since then my PSA readings have been as follows :

Oct 2015   2,23

Jan 2016   1.39

April 2016  1.12

June 2016   1.26

Jan 2017  0.99

My GP says my results are normal but why are some peoples readings post op 0.0?

Any help would be appreciated.

You still have a prostate Banjoman, and the healthy prostate cells will still produce a small amount of PSA. Men whose PSA is 0.01 or similar will either have had their prostate removed or are on hormones that suppress PSA.

My John is he same banjoman.

His PSA will never go to zero but as long as it stays low (or within a slight variation due to different machine calibration) then we can live with that
