Tablets & Pump Use

10 months on from RARP. 1st prescription 50mg Sildenafil for event. Nothing. 2nd prescription 100mg. Something. Have now been using pump for 6 months. That together with Ring & 100mg for event. Definite improvement albeit for a very short time. With considerable effort & timing OK for penetration

So now after meeting at ED clinic new prescription 5mg daily for Tadalafil for continuous dosage to be topped up with 50mg Sildenafil for event. I don't think I have seen any conversations for this combination and my GP also thought the same. Any thoughts especially re overdosing ?

I think the daily 5 mg tadalafil is the right move for many men including myself. I take it at night and have great results with a ring on also. Fully hard. I’m much further on than you though 5 yrs post op. I’d say adding 50 mg sildenafil is fine on occasion. Or the night before an event take 20 mg total tadalafil and see what happens. As long as you are careful and sensible some mixing is ok. Good luck

I'm on similar I was prescribed 100 mg Sildenafil 16 per month. Then when Tadalifil was available I got the 5mg daily Tadalifil as well. I think this is an oversight but I'm saying nothing. I now get them both together on repeat prescription with no questions asked. I mostly only take the Sildenafil every couple of days and bite it just over in half and save the rest. I, like Chris, think mixing is OK but be aware of max dose of each plus combination.
I do quite often acceed the max dose and had no noticeable side effects.
I asked on another thread if anyone knows what the long term consequences of slight overdosing might be but have not received any response so far.

You are doing ok for ten months, I am three years in and just about where you are but still improving slowly.

Good luck

Hi Bill. 16 tabs 100mg monthly is double the NHS recommendation I think. So you are probably ahead of the game!!! My only side affect on the Sildenafil is a blocked nose and an aubergine face for a few hours. I too am on repeat prescription for the 100mg. I was only offered 2 months worth (56 tabs 5mg) for the Tadalafil  - So we shall see in due course

I see you had one side Nerve Sparing same as me. I am very grateful for you saying that I am doing OK for 10 months as I am quite impatient on this subject probably because my mental age for this area is nearer 16 not 61 !!! I am also lucky to have a very supportive wife 15 years younger than me. I think looking back to discussions Pre-Op, I think I only really focussed on the "possible shortening of the penis" rather than the ED issues which in retrospect was an error in my judgement at the time. I would still have had the Op though.

I have used the pump daily for months now and this is the real improvement. I say "Improvement" and not "Erection" as a caveat.

Wishing you all the best.

"16 tabs 100mg monthly is double the NHS recommendation I think."

It is quadruple the NHS 'allowance' in normal circumstances although NICE has decided that men can have more than 4 per month if the GP thinks it appropriate and if the local CCG allows GPs some leeway.

As mentioned above I take the 5mg Tadalifil everyday but break up the 100mg Sildenafil and not always every other day, but sometimes more.

When I first started with Sildenafil before getting the Tadalifil and took the full 100mg I did get a bit of flushing and feelings a bit like a head cold. Now I don't notice anything.

I still wander what effect the overdosing might have long term

Cheers

Hi, having been on tafaladil 5mg for 12 months and one month before the op also regular use of the pump must admit not much happens in the way of an erection as there is no sexual stimulation. I do get some decent erections at night when doing diy so obviously the ability to do so is there..I have used the pump now twice with the ring on already and I do get some decent results..I have recently met someone after losing my wife 18 months ago..when we do go to bed nothing much down below happens so I'm positive it is down to nerves or something in the mind as I do have the ability to rise to the occasion at night by myself..anyone else got any input or had similar experiences..
