Tony is still in queens medical centre, he has broken multiple ribs both sides and damaged his spin in a couple of place. but he does not need an operation. They tried a spinal block for the pain but did not do much good and he has now had an epidural, I have only managed to see him onceas only allowed 3 visits a week by the same person and I do not drive and it is a 5 hour round trip, wm seeing him again on wednesday. Tony has still not had dialysis last one was wednesday morning laast week so I am really worried about that, just hope he manages to get it done today. He is not having to ly flat on his back now, not sure if he has had any food yet but hope so.

Just catching up with posts. So sorry to read this Barbara. Falling downstairs is hellish, I’ve been there.  Hope Tony gets dialysis today.

Hi Barbara, I just looked on travelodge hotels Nottingham. Some nights are £41 others are more expensive, I know it's not great, but if you are seeing him on consecutive days it may ease some of the travelling.

Tony is now in City hospital nottingham, hopefully he will be transfered to Lincoln either today or tomorow, he has 8 broken ribs and some damage to his spine, still hasn't been out of bed and in a lot of pain. Tony's oncologist is in Lincoln hospital and his renal team work from there as well so I will feel happier about that and I can get a bus there and by car it is only an hour away.

Oh no! Sorry, I completely missed this Barbara; how awful it must be for you both, and quite frightening, I imagine. Have they managed to transfer him now?

Hi Lyn

Tony is still in City hospital nottingham, Lincoln have agreed to take him but they still do not have a bed, 2 of my children are meant to be going to see him on monday but they will be travelling from Brighton and the hospital have said that even if they phone before they leave to make sure he is still in city hospital if a bed becomes available he will be transfered at a moments notice, hopefully his brother will see him tomorow i am going to book the hotel in city hospital for tuesday and wednesday in case he is still there then, I can just cancel it if he has been moved and will not get charged. It was really scary when it happened, there was an almighty scream and i thought the worse when i saw him on the floor but then he started moaning but i felt sick seeing him like that. He doeas seem to have improved a bit but not sure if that is just that they have got the pain more under control, He can move all his arms and legs etc but has to wear a really large collar that goes under his chin and right up to almost the top of his head so not very comfortable, at least he is alive that the main thing.

Well Tony is still in City hospital Nottingham, they are still trying to get him transfered to Lincoln hospital but no joy so far although they have agreed to take him but no beds available yet. Tony is getting quite upset about being so far away and now with the petrol situation it makes it even harder to get over to see him. Tony does look a lot better in himself but he has lost over 10 pounds in weight since being in hospital and that is not good.

I only spent one night myself in hospital and I did not enjoy it.

I visited a family member who was in hospital for about a week. Nothing ever seems to happen, doctor does his rounds, says I'll book you in for this or that, then it gets delayed, cancelled, and another day has passed and nothing happened. I said to the patient can't we just discharge you and have the scan when it is ready, but apparently that would have put them at the end of an outpatient waiting list. So they had to use up a hospital bed for about a week just to keep their place in the queue.

Hope he gets to Lincoln soon.

Tony has finally got transfered but not to Lincoln hospital but to Skegness Hospital, this is quite a relief as it is walking distance from where we live, hopefully he will not be in there too long as he can now walk a small way with a walker and this hospital gets patients on there feet so they can get home, OT should sort out what we will need for him to come home safely and any equipment we might need.

feeling positive

Fingers crossed and everything else Tony should be home today, he is going to dialysis at 1 pm and they should be brinking him home from there, he is still not fully mobile but at least he will be here and back in time for our 48th wedding anniversary on the 20th.
