Nocturia

11 weeks after finishing rt and brachytherapy.

I feel quite normal during the day in regards to going for a piddle. Maybe 4 times a day.

I stop drinking liquids around 7pm.

However i can get up 4 times a night. Proper wees too! I've no idea where it all comes from!

I thought kidneys went into sleep mode but mine seem to be working overtime at night.

I am on tamosulin

Doesnt seem to be improving. Any ideas?

I'd  love an " allnighter"

Hi John, I'm also taking Solifenacin (5mg per day - though you can increase to 10mg if advised by Doc) for an Overactive Bladder (I'm also on Tamsulosin to improve flow); generally I still get up at least once a night but, like you, it was previously 2 or 3 times a night, and sometimes I was going 3 or 4 times over a couple of hours in the day....I think the combination has definitely improved things for me as I was often struggling to start before Tamsulosin too. Any other q's ask away. Cheers, Nick

Ask your GP or allocated nurse specialist (if you have one) whether there is an incontinence clinic in your area - you might benefit from some bladder retraining

Hi John,

I had brachytherapy 6 years go and had much the same as you don't worry it does get better but i can still get up twice a night but with no urgency i just go as it helps to get back to sleep.I took Tamulosen but gave it up after six months as i felt i no longer needed it.

Good luck with the brachytherapy as not many of us on here.

John.

Hi John,

I had brachytherapy approximately 2 1/2 years ago and this was the one issue that wouldn’t go away for me, I only drank decaf drinks and avoided all sorts of other drinks but wasn’t seeing much improvement, I may have been up 5/6 times at night, I then spoke to my specialist nurse and we went through a few things to try and the biggest success was taking my tamsulosin at around 6 pm, it has greatly improved things for me, most nights I only get up once and the odd night I sleep right through.

Regards

David
