My first psa reading of 30

Seems Like ages since my last post, all seems to be going fine, that said all that's changed is I have prostrap injections ever 3 months, not had another  PSA reading since the initial.

I meet with the NHS consultant next week  to discuss  radiotherapy. I am disappointed with the communication side of things, I just seem to limp from one appointment to the next.

I asked about the implant spacer, but looks like I'll have to get that done privately before rt.

The only real side affect is fatigue,  I'm inbed most days around  7.00pm but rarely  get more than a few hours sleep. Just wake up then can get back to sleep.

Other than that I'm fine.

5.12.24

Went for my second  PSA bloods, today hopefully the level should be dropping as I've been in HT for 17 weeks.

I have another CT BOOKED  for the  19th  When hopefully I shall  get a date for RT.

Been a strange journey,  I've got my head around  it thanks to the response on this site.

The only  thing affected ATM is my sleep,  if I get 2 -3 hrs at night im lucky   fornominally tired.

Im still working but go to bed at about 7.30 tired but 5-6 later I'm still awake.

Is this normal?

Hi Marvel,

Yep I think HT does mess with your sleep patterns. I find it hard to fall asleep and have a patch around 2am when I wake and cannot sleep again for about an hour or so. We also invested in a great mattress, so I can bounce around, throw covers off and pull them back on all without disturbing the wife (which is not a good thing to do!).

You mentioned also getting the munchies, that has very much been the case for me. Put on a stone when first started, and so far have not got back to my starting weight!

Stick with it, think of the fact that is has "put your cancer cells to sleep" as my Oncologist put it. Then when they are least expecting it, hit them with the radiation!! :-)

Good luck. You can beat this!

I'm 4 months in to my in HT injections  just about to have my nex5 3 month injections and I've noticed  at night my calfs are starting  to itch, is this common?

Hello again mate.

Itchy calves sounds like a job for James Herriot. 😉

Joking apart. I believe, hormone therapy can cause dry skin and itchiness.

I think I need a vet, he would put me down lol. I seem to be getting more issues the longer I'm on prostrap . Not really moaning , hopefully the end result will be worth it.
Cheers

Another milestone day, went for my ct scan and rt date. Scan was ok and they marked me up with the dot tattoos

Start Rt on the 09.01.25, my psa has dropped from 30.4  to 1.8, hopefully it continues down.

Especially  when on Rt. Feeling a bit better now I know it's on the way down,  just 20 sessions  of Rt and 18 month's left of Hormone therapy...lol

Today  I had my 2nd ct scan today and got my tattoos for radiotherapy which starts 09 01 25.

Been on ht for a few months and psa has dropped  from 30.4 to 1.8. So  fingers crossed,  feeling more optimistic now.

Has anyone  noticed that when you are coming  to the end of the 3 month prostrap injection,  you are sleeping  better returning to " normal " then as soon as you have your next 3 month injection,  straight  back to insomnia , etc etc.

Also I start my radiotherapy next week,  does it make you tired ?

Or are there any other side effects?

Hi all I’m 57 and  thought I’d get checked as we had a meeting at work for men of a certain age (over 50) and because my dad has an enlarged prostate. (No symptoms for me & no peeing during the night)
well the results came back 3.04, which I thought was ok but the Doc said it was borderline better get checked well you can imagine the rest scan, biopsy 😫, anyway result 3+3 on the watchlist now

First 3 Monthly was 3.09 I’m told that’s fine, I hope other factors affected as it it’s a minor change.

Had my 2nd 3 monthly bloods a few days ago and will find out early Feb needless to say all the horrors and thoughts have gone through my head. Will have to wait and see but it’s never far away from my thoughts.

One day left of radiotherapy,  it's been OK, no side effects,  just back to the waiting  game now. New blood test and consultant in april. Hopefully  psa will have fallen.

Started at 30.4 August 24

December 24 down to 1.8 after hormone therapy.

Now hopefully  after 20 sessions of radiotherapy it will be even lower
