Tadalafil Shortage

User

Has anyone noticed that Tadalafil is out of stock? I could only get the 20mg on prescription from my GP, so I buy the the daily dose of 5mg on private prescription from UKmeds, however noticed it is seems out of stock and also at a few online pharmacies.

I didn't have any issues when I picked up my prescription last week but then I'm on 20mg tablets. My usual brand is accord but occasionally it's substituted with another, last time that happened was in the summer.

I used an online pharmacy for a while after my operation and I had quite a variety of brands from them.

Cheers,

Kev.

Generic Tadalafil 5 mg has been unavailable here (Swansea) for some time, but Cialis 5mg is available at a cost

2 x 20mg/week gives continuous dosing similar to the 5mg daily low dose, but also gives you a couple of boosts when it may be more effective to try for erections.

Snapping the tablets can increase the chance of them causing acid reflux in some people because of Tadalafil contacting the esophagus. They are film coated to prevent this normally.

Hi Andy,

You make a couple of interesting points here.

I've experimented over nearly five years with dosage, and have found that taking 20mg twice a week as prescribed doesn't work so well for me as cutting them to take a 10 on alternate days. The tablets are oval so difficult to quarter for a daily dose of 5mg.

The second point is also interesting because back in the summer I was given a different brand, Teva, these 20mg tablets are embossed with a cross. The instructions recommended 5mg a day and describe how to break the tablets depending on the required dose.

Cheers,

Kev.

Thanks for the responses. I find it much easier to use the privately funded 5mg tablets, which I use daily with my other meds than the 20mg, which I am supposed to use every 3day or so. As a result I rarely use the 20mg tabs, however now that there is a shortage,  I have gone back to using the 20mg dose, sometimes every 2days! Don't ask me if it works, as these days cannot be bothered with getting frisky☺️

Hi,

I forgot to mention that I cut my 20mg tablets and take half on alternate days. It's the closest I can get to 5 a day.

I get what you mean about not being bothered though.

Cheers,

Kev.

Thanks Andy. Going forwards, rather to trying to purchase the 5mg and/or using the 20mg tabs every 2/3 days. I would ensure I take 20mg tablets 2ce a week, Sunday, Weds and then Sunday etc...I should not forget that way and besides, 5mg 7days gives you 35mg total, 2*20mg weekly gives you 40mg. I will not bother trying to purchase the 5mg (privately) and just be contented with my prescription which is 20mg*8 monthly!

Kev, when you say works for you, how do you measure success, just wondering what is your success criteria. The reason I am asking is because, I take the tablets these days just because of the possibility that it is fixing the nerves or enabling me to have nocturnal swellings, not as an aid to having sex. I am also lucky that I don't suffer from any ill effects from taking the tablets.

Hi,

As I'm five years post op, I reckon I've made progress on the nerve repair front, so I measure success based on quality of erections. With my twice weekly 20, I don't really notice any real boost considering it's an event dose. And also I notice that erections aren't so good after a couple of days. I notice a dip.

Taking 10 on alternate days gives me more constant results. I find it's the same for nocturnal erections. It's the closest I can get to taking a 5 daily (the tablets crumble if I try to quarter them).

I experimented with sildenafil too, but that had little effect. The best thing I ever tried was injections.

Cheers,

Kev.

Thanks a lot Kev, for the explanation. I can sort of see the logic in 10mg every other day than 20mg twice a week.
