Which penile pump?

I've got RARP on 8/04 and getting things ready for post operative and post catheter penile health. First question is how long after catheter removal did you start 'exercising' with your pump, and second question is which one? I've read what people have said about Bathmate, Vacurect and Somaerect and looked at the various websites and am now thoroughly confused.

Thanks!

It is important to make sure that your genital/urinary/pelvic/ areas have recovered fully before you seriously start using a pump. I was advised to wait for three months at least. Prostatectomy is a serious surgery as you know.

Initially for rehabilitation purpose a cheap sex-shop pump, like Bathmate, would be fine. Following my prostatectomy, 14 years ago, I have been using pumps for creating erections because of ED. Hopefully you will regain your sexual function in due course. Otherwise if you need it, Somaerect may be available on prescription from your GP. I strongly advise not to purchase Vacurect which does not have an emergency vacuum release button, also it is difficult to use in my opinion.

The following link contains my survey of different pumps and my recommendations which you may find useful:

I bought this from Lovehoney and find it infinitely better than the Somaerect…and a tenth of the price! I never use my Somaerect now.

HI Decho and others

It is a question of horses for courses. If you suffer from ED and wish to create an erection and maintain it for, say 30 minutes, you need to be able to put a constricting ring at the base of the penis. For that you need a medical grade pump such as Somaerect (NHS prescribed). I have been using such pumps for penetrative and other type of sex for many years now. Initially, after surgery I did use the one from Lovehoney for rehabilitation and when I realised that my ED was permanent I had to start using Somaerect. Presently I use Primus which is battery operated and more convenient.

If anyone wants to see how I use the pump I will be happy to send them a short video if they send me a private message with  email address.

I actually use the rings supplied with the somaerect with the Lovehoney device and they work fine for me😊

Just remember to use some lubricant😊

I hope you find it as good as I do. I’m not sure what treatment you’re having, but it’s certainly helped me on the HT/RT route.
