I have had an mri scan & they say it it is posit (?) 4. I’m waiting to have a prostate biopsy tomorrow morning. Anyone out there like me or have actually been diagnose with posid 4, but have had biopsy result. Thanks.

The word used was probably PI-RADS (Prostate Imaging – Reporting and Data System), not POSIT.

It is a risk scale from 1 to 5. I don't know how they make the judgement. As a general rule 3 is the mid point, anything below that and they probably wouldn't do a biopsy, and suggest you come back in a year for another scan. 4 and 5 mean a biopsy is a good idea. We have had people on here with Pirads 5 and been cancer clear on the biopsy.

Hi, Andy.

I'm sorry that your having prostate problems, but welcome to the forum, mate.

As usual Dave, has given sound advice. An MRI is usually a pretty good indicator of clinically significant prostate cancer but sometimes 'likely' pi-rads 4 results can be due to non-cancerous prostatitis.

Only a biopsy can confirm whether it's cancer and how aggressive it's likely to be. I hope that yours goes well today.

I see that your other post, which is basically the same as this one, was unanswered.  That's rare, usually someone responds fairly quickly.

Hi. Thanks so much for info. Had biopsy this morning. Appointment was at 8.30am, but biopsy was done after that. It seems neither the PSA or PIRAD is a clear indicator of prostate cancer. The biopsy & Gleason score will give me a better idea of how to progress, if that’s the word!!

Was up 4 or 5 times last night. Every hour it seemed. Went for a pee, but just a trickle came out or nothing. Consequently was pretty tired in morning. Somebody said it could be effect of anaesthetic, but I have been up a few times before biopsy. Was in early morning, but now has started about 12.30am. I think it is prostate cancer & that I will need chemo. I’m having a bladder scan & urine flow thing on 18th May.

Hi Andy, I just replied to your other post, before I saw this one.
