We've created this area, here: http://community.prostatecanceruk.org/topics/50-Community-selected-conversations--read-only

We've made it read-only and invisible to guest users who aren't signed in, so that posts from the old forum can be moved there as well.

Let us know if there are other threads you feel should be moved there!

I'm not in a place where I can search & paste but would plea for Andy Ripley's story and the amazing debate we once had with Mark about spirituality and footprints.

As I was  fairly new to the site just before the change, the above threads were new to me.  Very moving and thought provoking. Thank you.

Very frustrating not to be able to post freely in what is a moderated part of the forum.

Please forgive me posting this here Simon, but I thought, that there should be a place where people can say when they might be in the chat room? Seems a shame not to use it, and whenever I have been in, it is empty. Maybe folks know I am coming in????

I tried to post this in lifestyle but it can not be live until moderated.

Best way to have a chat conversation is to invite someone you can see online to a one to one chat. Or post a time you will be there and await arrivals or send a private message saying when you might be there. Chat is underused at present but is a great additional facility.

 Thanks Lyn.
There was an older one I seem to remember, I'll have a look back. [It may well be his old profile that I remember, Brian]

Edited.  :-I can't see the long one I remember but it was interesting reading back on:- old al and Allister march 2009 and Old Al's passing in October 2012.  His profile page still makes interesting reading too.

Hi Si,

Thanks for posting links to these outstanding posts. As Lyn said elsewhere, we have asked a number of times for such to be stickies or come under a separate heading but this is ignored and does not even draw a comment from the moderators. There also needs to be a search facility to only forum posts. The present search facility brings up a multitude of things, much of it irrelevant, so much so that I tend to search for posts on this forum I want using Google which is laborious but still better than the forum's own search facility, which doesn't say much for it does it?

Earlier this year (February/March) I did go to Sadie to ask about stickies.

That prompted responses that suggested we have two things A section that covers frequently asked topics like the toolkit, treatment choices etc. then a section for memorable posts, hall of fame , call it what you like. Both were to be read only.

We got a reply from Sadie and then it all fizzled out .... a bit like me after a few glasses of prosecco!!

In all seriousness if I knew how to copy the link to that I would this is the info in the top of screen if that helps??

community.prostatecanceruk.org/posts/t11453-stickies-an-update#post141666

or in the search facility type edamo in posted by and 'stickies an update' in the search bar

I do try to get action but I think funding of this forum is probably low down on the "to do list" of the charity administrators.

I know it is only Thursday but I hope everyone has a good weekend

Hi all,

We thought it was a great idea to create a separate read-only topic area for memorable posts and invited people to send us posts to put in the new area. None were ever posted and we didn't want to create an empty area. This thread is a great find, thank you Si for bringing it back to the top – we'll set up the new area over the next week and put the linked threads above into it. If there are other threads you think should be moved to that area, please email onlinecommunity@prostatecanceruk.org and let us know.

Best,
Sadie

Fantastic Sadie ,

Just what we have all been asking for , my request would be to give them a special honours list name or simply a special posts box but something where these could be easily found for new and old members alike , so we didn't have to dig around to find them .

Personally I think they should be in the main headings list. They are all to special to be forgotten in the archives

Not sure what the heading could be or how it would work maybe just as Lyn says just Stikkies what ever it is let's not lose these brilliant threads in obscurity.

If we are doing any kind of voting then I also nominate Bazza.

Thank you my wing man for stepping in and bringing this back up . xx
