Here's a question. If there was any other cancer in the body, would you blood test for psa pick it up? Am I right in assuming that if it was a secondary cancer, the psa would rise. But what if there was another primary? Would this show up on the blood test?

Louise a blood test for PSA post diagnosis for prostate cancer will only give an indication for prostate cancer. That could be in the prostate or as a secondary in another part of the body like bones, lungs or other organs. The primary cancer just does a kind of shapeshift it may be in the lung but it is still PCa.

So blood tests that look for specific cancer other than PCa like cell counts in the blood for leukemia or other liquid cancers would have to be specifically asked for.

They often are so just ask what is being checked and why.
