Hello,

I have found this site as I have spent all afternoon going through every but of info I can as I am desperate for answers.

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago. He has been treated with hormone replacement tablets but back in March he was told that the hormone was no longer working. He has had 4 weeks of radiotherapy but his Psa level was still rising. He is now on a drug called Enzalutamide but he is so so poorly. He has lost about 3 stone in weight, he is barley eating or drinking. He can't walk or stand by himself. My mum is very much head in the sand with it. I am so desperate for some advice as I feel like I am losing him. I can't talk to my mum about it as she has her own way of dealing it. Had his cancer got a lot worse or is it the drugs that is making him so ill. He is deteriorating infront of my eyes.

Thank you 😥

Hello Lisa and welcome.
I am sorry that your dad is going through it all so badly.
I cannot answer your query as I don't have any experience of the drug route but I do know there are members on here who have experience of Enzalutamide so hopefully one of them will be along soon to help with your query.

You hang in there. I know you will be helped

Best wishes to you
Johsan

Hi Lisa, sorry to hear you are in this position of not knowing what is happening and what to do. I am no expert but would think that your dad has seen a doctor and has been given some information regarding the status of his condition and probably a choice(hopefully) of treatment that will be the next step.
Has your dad talked to you about any of this? What are his views on what is happening? Has he had scans/biopsies?

I am sure someone else will give more constructive advice on here but you have not said what else he has been offered.

Please be positive and take on board suggestions from your dads specialist together with those on this site and try not to be too downbeat as, although it makes you feel that way, it is better to take positives rather than negatives to use against this horrible illness.

I hope your mother can eventually talk things through with you and maybe you can suggest pooling your thoughts/feelings to come up with a plan to support your dad through the tough times ahead.

Keep posting updates as the more information that you give will give a greater chance of someone on here being able to help you all.
My thoughts are with you all
Chris/woody
