Hi All

Have now completed my sixth Chemo session and am I glad that's over,I can't say it was a pleasure.

But something seems to have arisen and it involves the timeline between my final session of Chemo and the start of Radio. It would appear that I'm due for a CT scan in 4-6 weeks then a follow up appointment to the CT scan 4-8 weeks after that. 3 months? I'm trying to contact the Oncology staff regarding this but not having much success at the moment.

I have no idea how long after the follow up appointment I will start receiving Radio, another 4-6 weeks. It does seem along while.

Does anybody have any idea of the timeline for this or their experience as I do not have a clue or is that the norm?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

My husband finished chemo 31st May and is due to start radiotherapy on the 06th August.

It did seem like a long time but in hindsight your body takes a while to recover so we were grateful for a little break (and a cheeky little holiday in between)

Hi John

I had my 6th chemo session mid January and started RT on 26th March.
Like Gemma said I was relieved to get a 2 month break and managed a 2 week holiday in between which did me the world of good.
From my experience RT was a breeze compared to the Chemo.

Rgds

Hi Gemma

Thanks for your reply.Looks like your husband received his Radio a couple of months after Chemo. It looks like mine won't be happening in the near future and don't seem to be able to find out why. And I'm getting the impression the Oncology Dept at my hospital could careless.

Hope your holiday goes well.I'm off next week will be glad of the break.

Thanks Again

Hi Jasper

Looks like your Radio was only a couple of months after your Chemo.I'm looking at 3 months or more to my following up to my CT scan then the wait for Radio. The Oncology Dept at my hospital up to yet have ignored messages I've left and when I was able to speak to someone they never came back to me .Just need all this.

Still off on holiday next week a break will do me good.

Thanks

No problem. I can understand where you're coming from I found it a little difficult not having any contact after you've been seeing your oncologist every three weeks.

Positive wise the HT and chemo will be doing its job so I don't think there is such a rush as with other cancers where there is no treatment happening until radiotherapy/chemo starts.

There still seemed to be appointments during our 'break', letters coming through for CT scans, follow ups and then you have planning sessions.

Personally I would leave it a couple of weeks, let your body recover, have a lovely holiday and then try getting hold of a specialist nurse if you haven't heard anything by then.
