My name is Alison and I’m a Prostate cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist working in Surrey. I worked as a Specialist Nurse at Prostate Cancer UK for nearly 10 years and I’m currently working towards a Masters in prostate cancer through Sheffield Hallam University. As part of my Masters I am required to complete a research study.

Purpose of the study:

The research is aimed at those diagnosed with localised prostate cancer within the last year and will focus on what factors were important to you in the treatment decision-making process. It will also aim to help the wider population of Healthcare professionals in understanding more about the decision-making process for those who are newly diagnosed.

Invitation to participate:

I would like to invite you to take part in this study and initially answer 13 questions via an online survey.

Following completion of the survey, you have the option to take part in a telephone interview, where I will ask further questions about what factors were most important you.

You do not have to participate, however if you wish to take part in a telephone interview, I will make contact via email to arrange a convenient time and for you to provide consent. The interview will last for up to 1 hour and will be audio recorded. Unfortunately, I may not be able to interview everyone who has expressed an interest in participating, but the information you have provided in the survey will be invaluable in providing a useful insight into treatment decision-making for men with localised prostate cancer.

Thank you in advance for completing this survey and the information you have provided.

Any information provided is completely confidential.

Many thanks,

Alison
