I have been using the vacuum   pump for penile rehabilitation for about 10 days . i have noticed that my penis has gone darker. Is this common  or i need to seek advice.

the other problem is that when i tried the constriction ring the base of the penis was not erect and it could be moved around.is this common ?

I presume from your screen name, you are of Asian extraction, so how dark was your penis before whatever treatment you had?

If you engorge the penis with artificial blood enhancements, then I would think it would become more pink.

I think this a first for a question on this forum!

Best of luck.

Cheers, John.

Change in colour during pump use is normal. Mine looks purple and bruised for a while after but goes back to normal fairly soon. Some times there is actual bruising like a love bite (I remember them from long ago) which lasts longer. Maybe try not pumping so much vacuum.

The constriction ring only holds the blood in above the ring. There is more penis tissue below and inside and the blood drains from there so yes it will be floppy. Try to get the ring as close to the base as you can.

Good luck

Cheers

I am of  Indian heritage.I am very fair by complexion. The  penis colour has gone darker.

It is difficult to know  how far to push the vacuum as one needs a hard erection but not to suffer colour discolouration and other consequences.

Thanks for your input

Thank for the feedback. when i asked this question of discolouration , the pump supplier said he had not heard of of the discolouration. it is useful to know that I  am  not the only one with this problem.

Your comment about the  base of penis being flexible ,I now understand. will try to push the constriction ring as close to the base as possible.

Rup, have you had the pump demoed on yourself in clinic? It's difficult to tell if you're using it correctly.

The ring is preloaded onto the open end of the pump, and slipped off onto the penis once you've got it erect. Make sure you know how to get a ring off before putting one on - tugging on it in panic mode could do some serious harm.

Also, you aren't going to have much success with the constriction rings until you've done 2 weeks or more of training with the pump (without any constriction rings), to get penile tissues used to being expanded.

There is one brand of penile pump where you put the ring on the penis first and then use the vacuum - it might be the Farnhurst but I am not sure and can't remember which member here has that version.

Re the discolouration - are you pumping too quickly & causing bruising? Does it hurt? You should pump in short bursts with pauses to allow the blood to catch up. More important, have you been really careful not to leave the ring on for too long - it must never exceed 30 minutes or could cause permanent damage.

Hi there

I agree with others that the blood concentration tends to make it darker. However this hasn't lasted long after I release the vacuum and remove the ring. Do keep experimenting - I am now more than a year into using my VED and it has become much easier.

At first it was super awkward, and also quite painful at times. But with patience and experimentation it has become easier and I can fully stretch the tissues without pain. I also credit it with me having zero loss in penis size since surgery. I've written about my experiences in more detail at https://www.recoveringman.net/using-vacurect-pump-for-penile-rehabilitation/ (for rehab) and https://www.recoveringman.net/vacurect-pump-for-sexual-intercourse/ (for sexual purposes).

On the movement at the base - just want to check two things:

* Are you using a tight enough ring? I found for basic rehab I could use quite a "loose" ring but for sexual purposes I needed it to be much tighter. The ring looks so small it offends my male ego but it works 😂

* Are you doing targeted pelvic floor physiotherapy? With specialist help you can focus this on the muscles that support the base of the penis and I've found it really helps support my VED erections ... less of that "hinge effect."

For rehab, it's not necessary to use a ring at all (and it might even be better not to). Just keep it pumped up in the tube for 10-15 mins. Deflating and reinflating a couple of times might help too, but nowhere near as often as you do during the initial 2-4 week training period.

Unless it is the make of pump that can't be used without a ring

Thanks Andy

I did not get any demonstration. Pump came in the post with the usual instruction .

I managed to do whats app face time with the the pump supplier and he watched while i was pumping .he asked me to push more then I had done earlier to maximise the erection. I did not have any constriction rings at that time, so all he commented was on the level of pumping.

Subsequently when i phoned him about discolouration , he said he was not aware of this.

Thanks Lyn

I was not pumpIng too fast , giving 10 second before each set of pumping. there was no obvious bruising only felt tight but not hurting.

I had three days break , the colour has remained  the same.I wonder if it is necessary to do the pumping every day or can it e done with small breaks without loosing on rehabilitation of the penis.

HI Mish

I found your comments very helpful. Discolouration of the  penis has remained  , but it is not having any other adverse impact. i am doing pelvic floor exercises, hopefully it will have a long term positive effect.

I will try some of the ideas you have detailed.

Thank you and good luck! I have received so much help and support from this group over the last year - I am glad to be able to share something back to others. So glad the colour change hasn't had any other negative impact.

I've found I can only recognise changes in my recovery on a month-by-month basis, not weeks. My progress has been very gradual, but looking back on six months ago I can see really significant improvement. It is hard to keep positive - but worth it in the end.
