5 year update

Good news today.

Diagnosed Nov 16 - T2b Gleason 7

Prostatectomy Dec 16 - pT3a Gleason 9

Post prostatectomy PSA went from 0.014 to 0.023 in the space of first year

Salvage radiotherapy ended in June 2018

Bicalutimide ended in August 2019 (18 months)

August 2018 PSA <0.006

January 2021 PSA <0.006

Discharged from oncology.  Annual blood test with GP

Oncologist won't say I'm cured, but did say a Gleason 9 doesn't usually stay asleep this long

Yesterday, for the first time in just over 5 years, I started to think, 'I had cancer/I no longer have cancer.'

Thank you to all of you on this forum who helped me.  Thank you to the PCUK specialists nurses.  Wonderful people all of you.

Next update, January 2023.

Although I will let you all know how the penile implant surgery goes later this year

Thank you for all your good wishes.

Just noticed, I should have written

January 2022 PSA <0.006

But I think you all worked that out

Hi Ulsterman

I've been following your story quietly from the sidelines - I was also diagnosed in Nov 16 with  Gleason 9 T3a...   And it seems I'm in a very similar boat to you with undetectable PSA.  Well, at least I was with my last one, I keep forgetting to get the December one!

So yay for both of us!  We both seem to have lasting side effects from the treatment, different but equally unwelcome.  Chance seems to have given us a life to live with them though, and I'll take that.  Onwards...
