HI All

I have posted in the main forum of my symptoms, I can only assume I have a Prostatitis of some kind, I will be going private specialist to expedite a diagnosis (been symptomatic a month so far), though in the meantime, can anyone tell me what is best self care for this, I don't want to exacerbate this in the meantime.

Many thanks

The advice I was given was to by in to the best condition you can get active, eat healthy I decided to I've up alcohol (no one suggested it) stop smoking (if you do) and lose weight of over weight.

Not sure why you are going private certainly in my health area (Bucks) I don't believe I could have had better treatment. Had PSA the day I went to GP (result within 48 hours) MRI, bone scan & biopsy within a month & PET scan within another 2 weeks all this with Xmas in the middle.

Good luck hope everything goes well

Hi Les

Many thanks for the advice, I think giving up alcohol completely would be difficult for me, I do like the occasional pint.

I am going private to more ascertain, if I have an infection and what type of infection, so can be treated better and more promptly. My GP (I'm in Herts), just randomly throwing Cipro at me, without really knowing if I have an infection or not (only done urine culture test).

Sounds like in Bucks, close to me, you got treated very well.

Hi Jim

Well that is my plan! I feel very let down by the NHS in this situation, all they want to do is ply me with Cipro, I stopped it 2 weeks ago (I didn't tell GP), the place I am going too is Prostate specialists (it's all they do), yes it will cost, but in return I should get some answers.

Hi Dave,

Yes I did. I went to a specialist prostate clinic in London, I had a Stamey test done to test semen and prostate fluid and both came back clear of bacteria. Though on from that since I had a NHS biopsy and that came back clear as well. My prostatitis looks like it was the non bacteria version, my prostate has been getting much better, my main issue at the moment is trying to fully recover from the effects of Ciprofloxcin.
