Our experience with a vibrator and ED

One of the biggest issues that we suffer from post op, especially RP, is the ED and there are two aspects of this that affect us - the intimacy and the ability to self-pleasure.

Intimacy is something that has to be addressed by both partners and can be relatively easy, or incredibly hard, and the mechanical aspects of obtaining and maintaining an erection make it much more difficult. My wife and I can handle it mentally, we have been married for 32 years so there isn't much that we haven't dealt with but using the pump and rings was never going to work for us especially as penetration isn't something that either of us craves. I was never well endowed either and so with the loss of length from the RARP it wasn't going to be very satisfying for her.

If you were lucky enough to have had nerve sparing then there is a chance that natural erections may return at some point with tablets or injections but if, like me, nerve sparing wasn't an option then the vacuum pump and cock rings were the only option but with the loss of penile length as a result of the prostate removal, was never going to be very successful.

Working with your partner to determine what can and what cannot work should be approached with a sense of fun and amusement - we were lucky in our relationship to be able to laugh, especially at the things that didn't work. Oral sex for example is pleasurable for both of us but if you find that you release urine at the most inappropriate time it's probably a no-no. Some experimentation may be needed.

Vibrators, dildos etc have been available for the ladies for decades, in every conceivable size and shape and I imagine that most have at least tried one and may have a favourite selection. My wife has a few to choose from, some of which make me blush! However for us men, the range has been limited until recently, but what is available relies upon one important thing - they require an erection! Something that I can no longer supply.

So I started to do some research thinking that there must be something available for my FWO - my Floppy Willy Orgasm as we call it.

Remember that the nerves on the glans of the penis are not affected by prostate surgery - they work just as well - it's just the penis itself that is just all floppy. Manual masturbation is quite possible but involves holding the penis with one hand and manipulating the head with the other - perfectly possible but it's a little bit awkward.

So I came across something called a Hot Octopuss that looked ideal - it wraps around the penis with an adjustable strap and vibrates the shaft at high frequency and has a button that hits the right spot and which vibrates at a low frequency - it looked perfect until I saw the price - £120 - now I like my orgasms like the next man but that was way outside of my budget - I mean my wife spent £20 on hers and it does all sorts of weird things.

Well, being the cheapskate that I am, I managed to find one for £20 - so an order was made. I had to say that I didn't have much of an expectation for that price even though the pictures looked similar to the high priced ones.

It arrived a couple of days ago and we have had some fun trying it out which started by trying to make sense of the instructions LOL - eventually worked it out. The shaft vibrations are controllable separately to the head and each has various patterns to choose from.

It works!!

Now in my case, the loss of penile length is an issue - although I am on the vacuum pump daily, I am only at about 3.5" - sometimes less - and the device needs about 4" to strap into place - however by opening it out and holding it in place it still works. One word of warning - the default medium speed works a bit too well - like "OMG what just happened" well - we found that the pulsed one worked better and allowed the orgasm to slowly build up.

This will, I believe, become our go-to toy for me - well she has her own selection to choose from.

Excellent post. Lot of what you wrote resonates with us. Fortunately following surgery I did not lose any penile length so it was back to normal in many ways except oral sex. The point you make about this is interesting. In our long marriage, before my prostatectomy, we hardly engaged in oral sex because my wife did not fancy it and although she indulged me a little bit it was never very successful because, like most women (except in porn videos), she did not want to handle all that ejaculate. However, following my surgery, whilst I did leak urine when sexually excited and at orgasm, because I use a VED for erections I do not 'ejaculate' anything because of the constriction due to the rings and this has opened up another way of pleasuring each other. A typical scenario is, after foreplay, we decide whether we have penetrative sex or oral sex.  For penetrative sex I make sure I have a full erection and I make love from behind while she uses a vibrator on herself and controls her point of orgasm.  If we decide to have penetrative sex then I make sure that my penis is not too long, for her comfort. We settle ourselves in the '69' position. My wife gives me oral sex and I use a vibrator on her. This is an amazing experience for us because she really enjoys having my penis in her mouth and I can control her orgasm. This can last for half an hour (time allowed for the ring/s on the penis) and when I am ready for my orgasm I know exactly what to do for her to reach her climax; It is the most exciting orgasms we have experience in our life.

Pratrap - you sound very much like ourselves. Oral has become much more enjoyable post RARP - I know we all talk about the downsides of the surgery and they shouldn't be understated - but this is one upside :)

My orgasms have become much more pleasurable.

I know you are using the VED but have you tried floppy willy oral? My wife found it to be an incredible turn-on and has experimented with various techniques all of which I approve of. Just something different to try!

JedSee - I haven't seen the eBay one but if it looks like the one on the link then you will be good!

Jedsee, can you post a link to the one you found on eBay please?

Hi Decho

Yes, I live in France - ordered on July 8th and delivered July 15th which is typical for stuff we order on Temu.

I think if you tell it you are in the UK then the price should be in £

As for low libido I'm not sure how that works/feels so can't comment - but if you can still get excited by manipulation of the glans then I am sure it would.

I bought the hot octopuss, sometimes also call Pulse, and was originally called the Guybrator. It worked, but I was at the end of homone therapy anyway so barely used it. I take it to some presentations now. There were 4 models at the time, with (duo) or without (solo) an additional clit vibrator plate to use with a partner, and with or without remote control. The solo remote control was £80 at the time. The whole thing vibrates so much that I doubt the extra clit vibrator is much additional benefit, but then I don't have one to try it with. For guys, it may well enable you to orgasm without managing to get an erection, although it may be powerful enough to do some damage on max setting. The online reviews did suggest they weren't all as mechanically reliable as one might have wished for.

Hi Decho,

I'm sorry, but I don't  seem to be able to post a link from the eBay page.  (I'm a bit of a technophobe).

If it helps, the seller's username is 'orcface'.

The long-winded description is: "Penis Glans Stimulation Stroker Male Massager Trainer Vibrator Masturbator" Phew!

It costs £20.98.

Hope you can find it.

Best wishes,

JedSee.

Well I took delivery of this little device today from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Masturbator-Stimulating-Vibration-Ejaculation-Masturabating/dp/B0BNV9JRBK

it appears to be very well made and some of the sensations are really nice. It gave me an erection and not a headache (like viagra!) and with a little more practice I am sure I could reach the big ‘O’. And The good thing about it is that it frees up hands for ‘other’ areas😊

Now the big question…will I be brave enough to take it in my hand luggage to Fuerteventura next week?🤣🤣🤣

Well the last time I went through airport security they asked me to turn my laptop on - so it could be interesting :)

Good Day guys, just wondering if it is worth me going for the Ebay one. Was it of any use? At this rate I will need a room for my arsenal of sex toys. It has grown exponentially since my prostate surgery :).

I am straight and I have no experience of pleasuring a man orally. However I would have thought a dribble of urine was better than the pre op risk of a far greater quantity of ejaculate.

In survival situations Bear Grylls drinks pints of wee, and its never done him any harm. I hasten to add, I am not saying my lovemaking is that bad that it's life or death choice, but my wife may disagree.

Its just dawned on me. Why not wear a flavoured condom? It would eliminate urine dribble and most ladies love a Pina colada. Its a win win situation.

Lucky you. I'm half the man I used to be.

Your signature "Sex is like physics............", is very true.

For me, sex is now like quantum mechanics. Every time I have it, I have to deal with the"Particle in the Box" problem.
