Non nerve sparing operation

Hi

I've just seen the surgeon, he managed to remove the cancerous prostate, however in doing so, he had to remove the nerves as well. Is this the end of my sex life or is there something that can be done or I can do. VED was mentioned, not sure what that entails and how successful that would be.

Can anyone give me any pointers?

Dave

Bathmate is a make of pump, I think it’s designed to be used in the bath or shower…if you Google it you should find it. You should be able to get a Vacuum Pump on prescription from the NHS. See your GP or CNS to get referred to the ED Clnic. It seems the most commonly prescribed one is the Somarect from iMedicare. It is really good but you do need to practice and also make sure you get the correct sized cylinder. If you look at the iMedicare web side you can find all about them. It has definitely made a difference for me, I didn’t have surgery but need it to correct my Peyronie’s disease.

You can buy it privately but it’s NOT  cheap!

Happy Pumping😊

Remember that the nerves that cause you to orgasm are NOT affected by RP - just the ones that cause erections. So for masturbation (and oral) you can still achieve very pleasurable orgasms without the erection.

For penetration you need a way to get the blood flowing into the penis and then to keep it there. Typically you start with a VED - vacuum erection device that you have probably seen advertised and available from sex shops (cheap), chemists and specialist medical suppliers (expensive) or possible on prescription if you are really lucky.

These are used with a 'cock ring' - a band that fits at the base of the penis and keeps the blood in the penis for up to 30 minutes. This can be used for penetration but some relearning of technique will be needed along with a good sense of humour.

There are also 2 injections that can help if you can't get on with the VED - I haven't tried these yet as the VED is working OK but will talk to my urologist when I see her in January. Maybe some others can advise.

Finally there is a penile implant - might be useful to consider if you are a 'show-er' rather than a 'grow-er' - there are two versions - a foldable one and an inflatable one but some people don't rate the very highly.

Yes you have a chance, it's early days yet.Even if you have all the nerves sparred does not mean there are any guarantees. My advice is to get yourself prescribed a pump or if you have the monetary resources buy one. It will help keep the Oldman healthy in the meantime. Obviously check with you clinical team first before using one.

I had full nerve sparring but it's taken 1.5 years to get back to 75% of where I was.

I had non nerve sparing, so no natural erections, ejaculation, which I really miss. I would say weather it's pumps, injections or implant, seek advice before and during trying them out. Expect a roller coaster of emotions and feelings, don't expect too much help from the professionals about the emotional side. This forum provides great support.

I had non nerve sparing, and he's half the man he used to be. However Inivcorp jabs bring him back to (80%) life.

I think erection recovery is very varied, no matter how many nerves have been spared.

Good luck mate.

Hi Dave,

I had to smile at your unintended pun. It's what most blokes on here want - a good pointer.😉

Don't feel despondent mate. There is hope. I found Invicorp stood up well.

Yeoman, definitely not the end of your sex life ,just the beginning of a new type of sex life. I found my orgasms to be out of this world after surgery. Yes it takes more effort.

Never give up and have fun finding a solution.

Thanks Chris

I had the nerves spared on one side the left
