Sildenafil side affects & erection progress

Hi All

Just wondered if any of you have had side-effects from 100mg Sildenafil 3 times a week.

I get a blocked nose, dry throat (much like your common cold) and sometimes blood shot eyes.

I am 7 months after my radical 'nerve sparing' prostatectomy and see little sign of blood and nerve function returning sufficiently to have sex without pump and constrictor ring. I do occasionally get the "Morning glory" but not long enough to put it into action! Anyone have advice re: the side effects and/or my progress?

Best wishes

Steve

Hi Steve.

I think your progress is brilliant!

I had a non nerve sparing RARP 9 months ago and was told I would never have a natural erection again.

I was on Sildenafil prior to the op and it worked but had no effect post op.

I'd forgotten what a 'Morning glory' was and thought that I was forever doomed  to a 'Dawn dangle'.

I felt so emasculated but was finally prescribed Invicorp which works most times for me.

It's not as good as the old days but it's enough to do the job.

Don't give up hope mate.

Adrian.

Steve, You are definitely doing a lot better than most after RARP surgery. It has taken me 18mths to see some progress. I tried everything from injections to prosthetic penis! I hate injections, so will not be going down that route again. I do like you get some sort of erections in the mornings, but will not trust it for penetrative sex. I do take the 20mg Tadalafil 3ce a week and noticed my erections is firmer when I use the pump. Thankfully, I have no adverse from Tadalafil and we seem to have settled for that combination therapy for sex now.

I would pack in the 3 x per week Sildenafil - it doesn't help with erection recovery, it doesn't stay in your system the way cialis does and it is giving you unwanted side effects.

Maybe try just taking the viagra / sildenafil when you feel randy - keeping in mind that you should take it on an empty stomach if you can and that it takes longer to work for some men than others. I know for some men, it works within half an hour but if my husband is going to use viagra, he will take it in the afternoon to have sex in the evening, or in the morning to have sex in the afternoon.

I am like you Steve, and I found both the Tadalafil (Cialis) and Sildenafil (Viagra) had the same way of messing with my head. Those drugs feel like they give with one hand and take away with the other. Yes, they help me get an erection but then I have to have a thick head like a hangover for hours (Sildenafil) or days(Tadalafil).

In the end I ditched both and stuck with mechanical methods, mainly the pump and the ring. And I am learning lots about having softer sex with either a weak erection or none at all. On good days I still get hard sometimes, hallelujah. Better in the end without the drugs - for me. I suppose the main method is loving, actually.

Tablet am - erection pm?

That's an awful lot of foreplay!

I hope one night he takes one with his cocoa, and surprises you first thing in the morning. 🤣

Joking apart,  not long after my prostatectomy, I had a minor heart attack. They stopped my Sildenafil as it conflicted with my nitrate based heart tablets. I think I was very lucky that they allowed me Invicorp.
