Hot flushes medication

Just seen this on the BBC.

BBC News - Hot-flushes menopause drug Veoza approved in UK

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-67747479

Not yet approved by NICE so not available on NHS yet. I have no idea what a private prescription would cost. It doesn't work by changing hormones, so it wouldn't replace testosterone and give the cancer something to feed on. It works by changing brain's temperature regulation.

It might be worth some of the men on HT looking in to this, as hot flushes come up pretty high on the worst symptoms of HT. Don't forget all drugs have potential side effects, seek medical advice, not random internet advice.

Apparently £400/month, for a 27% reduction in symptoms.

I wouldn't rate the chance of NICE allowing it on the NHS as very high.

Thanks for the financial info Andy. I think NICE are prepared to pay £20,000 for one Quality Life Year. So about £5000 per year to improve symptoms by 27%, would only happen if NICE consider hot flushes to be more severe than death.

I think you're right, this ain't going to be available on the NHS.
