I have been using Caverject for about 2 months now and there really is a knack to using it.

First, be relaxed and get in the mind set for sex - a bit of video or partner involvement will help. Without being mentally sexually aroused it will almost certainly fail as I have proven to myself.

Once you are aroused, then inject the penis as you were shown and then massage the area by hand - you probably weren't shown that bit.

Keep yourself aroused for the 5-10 minutes needed for a full erection.

I use 5mcg and get a 20 minute usable erection - if you need longer than that then you have a heck of a lot more stamina than I do !!!!

Increasing the dose does increase the strength of the erection and the duration but overdoing it can be painful so take it slowly.

But I cannot stress enough how much you need to be sexually aroused for it to work.

I agree with Steve that foreplay is crucial to getting decent erections after injections.

I use Viridal Duo (Alprostadil) for my injections, and intially found that 20mg was not very effective.

So, I decided to take a small cut from my normal Cialis tablet an hour or so before injection. This improved things a bit. So, I asked my clinic at UCLH here in London if it was OK to continue with this combination. No objection was raised, so now I take a complete 20mg Cialis as well as the 20mg injection. It  has improved things significantly.

I have had no side  effects, but the full erection still only lasts about 20mins. So, UCLH has suggested I go on to 40mg injection and continue with the Cialis at the same time, if this is needed.

As far as I can see (via Google), there have been quite a few thorough medical studies which show combination therapy to be highly effective when just one treatment isn't working.

Hi Paget67,

Yes, I've had the same issue with 10mcg.  You may need to try the 20mcg. or even 40 mcg. dosages.

If none of these work, ask to try 'Invicorp', although it only comes in one dosage, so if it doesn't work you can't add more.  The good news is that it usually has little or no adverse effects.

Best wishes,

JedSee.

Paget, although it said that stimulation it not required when using caverject,I found stimulation helped and a swelling could be revived with additional stimulation.

Thanks Chris

Hi Fred,

Sorry to see you've had to find us but glad you have. Welcome to the forum.

I had a non nerve sparing prostatectomy just over a year ago. About 4 months later I had an ED clinic appointment and a supervised Caverject injection. It didn't work. Fortunately the nurse requested my GP to prescribe me Invicorp and it was successful.

It seems whichever drug you use there is an art to injecting it.

Here's a link to a thread that covers many issues relating to penis injections.

Best of luck mate.

Nooooo! Please don't give up after one attempt - there is a knack to it and you might just need a higher dose.
