Hi everyone this is the first time I have posted so I hope I do it right my question is I am 9 weeks after surgery and the incontinence very bad and it is at this moment in time life changing for me I’m told that it could last up to 6/12 months I am using a load of pads still have many accidents one of which was out side but was able to get back into car and come home could someone tell me if this problem reduces over those 6/12 months, I’m walking every day does this effect how my incontinence is affected? I also have to sit down at the toilet not much down there after the surgery does this improve to.

Any advice would be very much appreciated thanks

Phil

Hi Phil.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry that you're struggling, mate.

Recoveries vary enormously. Hopefully, things will gradually improve. As you said, regards weeing, apparently most blokes are back to normal between 6 and 12 months. Exercise is good but don't overdo it.

Losing penis size is common and blokes often do have to sit down on the toilet to pee. Mine was as small and sprayed worse than a car windscreen washer.

It's very early days for you mate. They say using pumps is good for your penile health, I couldn't be ars*d with all that palaver, though.

I'm over two years post op now. I had full bladder control after about 7 months. I still cannot get natural erections, but penile injections manage to raise the living dead. Not to its former glory, but good enough to do the biz. I'd say I'm an inch or so shorter than pre op but that's a small price to pay for being cancer free.

Good luck mate. Please keep us updated. You will get loads of support here.👍

Hi as has been said before everyone is different. Keep squeezing and be patient. I really struggled with continence to begin with then something clicked after a few weeks and I developed control of sorts. 6 months post op i was on between 3/5 tena level 3 pads a day. It was about 9/10 months I went down to 1 a day level 3 and then after around 18 months post op I got to 1 pad a day level 2. How my world revolved round pads - that is what it became! I’m still on a pad for security some days I’m dry others I leak. It doesn’t control or impact my life much. Re size initially I’d shrunk but through time gravity healing and pump things got back to normal ish although it did take several months. Good luck don’t give up and keep squeezing.

Thanks for the support my friend I need it at the moment I am trying to stay has positive has I can I will have a good day and night so confidence is high and you know you feel great don't you you've been there but then you have a accident and that wipes away the confidence so you start again I will carry on squeezing onward and upwards Thanks again for your support very much appreciated
