To be honest these days it could anything from a "qualified person" to the actual oncologist conducting the appointment.

The important thing is to not be intimidated and make sure any questions you have are answered.

I suspect that you'll be seen by a urology/oncology consultant and dependent on your PSA may well be offered all three treatments, active surveillance, radiology and HT or surgery.

But I could be wrong.

Best of luck mate.👍

Hi Simon,

I started in Urology, I think most people do.

I had a Macmillan Nurse who primed me for the meeting, this was 9yrs ago.  So we had the nurse, the consultant, me and my wife.  The nurse had told me I had as long as it took.

In reality I find the meetings have a natural length of just under half an hour.   That's the time you start asking about the posters on the wall and the Consultant asks if there's anything else.   It happened again when I was transferred to Oncology last year.  I started talking about being retired and the Consultant drew the meeting to a close.

For the initial treatment meeting with the Consultant the Macmillan Nurse had briefed me on what was likely and from that I was keen to have surgery.  After the half hour the Consultant rang the surgeon there and then and I had a meeting with him very quickly.  The surgeon then fitted me in quicker than he initially told me.  I'd think in your case with a clear bone scan and Gleason 3+4 you'll get a good range of options if there are no complicating factors.

All the best, Peter
