PSA concern

Just wondering if anybody could put my mind at rest.
I had a prostatectomy in February 2023 and have had four negative 0.1 PSA readings since.

however my test this week had a reading of 2.3 obviously I’m concerned about the increase.

Hi, Roy.

Are you sure that your latest PSA is 2.3 and not 0.23?

In either case, the PSA rise, would indicate  biochemical recurrence. If so, the cancer cells need locating and salvage treatment would be considered.

Roy ,I had the same thought as Adrian and the other day someone corrected their 1.2 to 0.12. I would definitely want a retest, mistakes do happen, we have seen a mix up on here with serious consequences. It took 3 years for me to go from 0.03 to 2.7, so I would definitely be asking for a retest and a PSMA scan if they refuse the retest.

Thanks Chris

I share your concern, Roy. Like you, I had RARP in Feb 2023. Fortunately, since then, my PSA levels have all been <0.02 'undetectable'

Presumably, in the two and a half years since surgery, your PSA checks have all been <0.1 undetectable, then jumped up to 2.3, six months later. Had this happened to me, like you, I would find it alarming.

What was your pre-op PSA level? What was your post op histology? Did you have a very high Gleason score? Did you have any extraprostatic extension? Did you have any positive margins?

I've been on this forum for over two years and cannot recall a similar, sudden rise like yours.

Have you had any clinical feedback yet?

I'm not medically trained mate, but if I were in your position, I'd be asking for an immediate PSA retest, or urgent consultation.

Good luck.

If this has gone from 0.1 to 2.3 in 3 months? It's pretty unusual...

Had a second test today and it’s back to 0.1 very relieved to say the least!

That's good news.

Thanks Chris
