Hello! To any of you taking Tamoxifen, what are feelings as to effectiveness?? Is it well tolerated?? I hate having to take anything else, but if it works, I’m game. I was treated for PC with radiation last year. PSA is dropping as it should. I did not have hormone treatment. My testosterone is in normal range but my left nipple has been sore for a few months and there’s some gynecomastia. Oncologist recommended Tamoxifen. I’m going to pick up prescription today and hoping for some good results with minimal side effects. Thx!!!

Jermen, I am coming towards the end of two years of hormone treatment following my PSA rising after a RARP. This caused gynecomastia - breasts that my wife was almost envious of but very painful. My consultant put me onto Tamoxifen which has been very effective: no more pain and a reduction in the swelling and there have been no adverse side effects - happy days!

I took Tamoxifen for gynecomastia caused by a course of Bicalutamide during salvage radiotherapy. I found it worked well and I didn't experience any side effects. Things didn't return completely to normal until after my course of hormone therapy but it did relieve the tenderness and some of the swelling.  As I understand it gynecomastia is caused by a hormone imbalance. That's usually the result of hormone therapy but as you have not had HT there must be something else causing your hormone imbalance. Perhaps the root cause should be investigated.
