Sildenafil

Hi

I  had a Radical Prostatectomy two weeks ago today. One set of nerves was saved. I am aged 71, I have been prescribed 3 months of  sildenafil 25 mg, one per day. I was wondering what time of the day is best to take this tablet? Or doesn’t it matter?

Incidentally I was discharged a day after surgery and re admitted two days later on a 999 call as I was vomiting and my urine was pure red. Stabilised now and had my catheter removed 30 May 2019. Still have some pains in the stomach/ex prostate area, but wounds from the robot machine are healing well.

If you get unwanted side effects (aches and pains). Take it at night so hopefully they will wear off by morning.

Never heard of daily Viagra before, but having looked it up, 25mg is a daily dose. If that doesn’t work, or you have side-effects, try 5mg Cialis/Tadalafil.

Nothing works for me so I have given up. I wish you more success!

Cheers, John.

Peter I was put on daily sildenafil a few weeks post surgery even though I was "supposedly" non nerve sparing. It can make the world look blue, I took mine at night so the side effects were not noticed.

Thanks Chris

My friend in America, who was about your age, went to his doctor to ask for Viagra.

When the doctor asked ‘How many do you want?’, he said: ‘Oh, about six month’s worth - say a hundred tablets’.

When the GP had got over the shock, he wrote out a script for 100, which my pal duly purchased. He took one and suffered headache and nausea, so had 99 left!

He does very well on daily Cialis/Tadalafil 5mg, the randy old git - he’s 82 in November!

Cheers, John.

One can only wonder how extra randy the ROG would be had he persevered?

PWJ - what was the purpose or reason given for prescribing you the 25mg Sildenafil/Viagra.

If you suffer some of the potential side effects, head aches, leg aches etc, only you can decide if it is worth keeping at it.

Head aches and leg aches seem to be quite a common reaction, but if you consider the potential benefits, they are a small inconvenience.

Maybe consider taking the tablets at night, with ibuprofen, and paracetamol to appease the aches.  I persevered and it was worth it.

Hi PWJ,

ask your doctor for Lansoprazole 15mg gastro resistant capsules, take them at the same time, keeps the indigestion at bay

Hi John I was told that it would help the blood flow to the nerve area. I have been  prescribed three months worth.

I haven’t suffered headaches yet only the one bout of indigestion. They were given to start improving the blood flow to the removal area. I will persevere

Update:

I have been taking 25 mg of Sildenefil now for three months, no side effects at all. In fact I don’t feel anything anywhere!

Hoping to see my GP soon to talk about ED

December 5. Not seen the ED clinic, GP will not do anything unless the Consultant says so, the hospital has cancelled my next appointment on 17 December!!! Not sure why. Still taking the Sildenafil, there is some feeling coming back to my private’s, so I am feeling hopeful!
