Just got the new today.  A  toss up between radio and cryo???  we can get cryo here in the NE.  has anyone had it?

What advantages and disadvantages over radio???

Radio seems less invasive so does cryo work better as it seems more invasive and what about side effects and bladder control.

Out of curiosity, who does Cryo on the NHS up North?
I wasn't aware of any focal therapy on the NHS north of London.

I'm not knowledgeable about cryo but you're right to be looking into it before going ahead.

I've read it's not as good as radiotherapy or surgery and really only for superficial or very small lesions.  I doubt there's a lot of evidence as we don't hear a lot about it.

I'd think cryo will be very focused whereas radiotherapy will cover the whole prostate and beyond if needed.  You can't tell from a biopsy exactly how extensive the lesion is.

Sometimes treatments can sound good because they're quicker, less invasive, less side effects.   But it could be risky to use those as a main criteria if you want a good proven long term solution.  That said there's a risk about success with all treatments and we're all different.
