Hi all.  I am currently waiting to have surgery   I’d like to ask  if anyone who’s had surgery has regretted it and wished they’d opted for another option and viva versa   I am t2n0m0 Gleason 3+4.   Less 10 % pattern 4.  Psa 20.    Thanks all

Hi Simon,

This recent research suggest from 106 men who'd had RALP, 48% were highly satisfied, 30% had high regrets.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33359493/

All treatments can have side effects.

You appear to have made the decision to have surgery, it may be counterproductive to question that decision?

Hi Simon@@

Had Ralp coming up for 4 months ago.

Gleason 3/4, EPC, T3a. N0, M0.

Primary objective cancer control - First PSA <0.01 @ 12 weeks. Histology Negative Margins and still G3/4. So currently on target.

Second Objective continence - currently about 90% continent. Use Tenna 2 when going out. No trampolining though! Again, on target and confident will be ok in next couple of months.

Third objective No ED - surgery was 50% nerve sparing but not even close on this at the moment. Surgery team told me about a year. Everything they have said at the moment OK so I’m not stressing too much.

Lastly no other ongoing side effects. Nothing really to report here thank god other than needing CBT therapy. Get a bit tired still.

It’s been a tough 3 months but no major regrets thus far.

Bit soon to be regretting a course of action that hasn't happened yet!

I had an RP 10 years ago, I was one of the unlucky 1% that it nearly killed (sepsis), it also made me impotent for 2 years and facilitated my divorce. I still have no regrets!

I do still miss impromptu erections and ejaculation but I am happy with my choices.

I had RT & HT - & have no regrets - some bowel side effects, it happens.

Bit late to change your mind now - but I guess, not impossible.

I chose the least invasive.

5 1/2 years post retzius sparing RARP with NeuroSAFE. No regrets at all and still testing as undetectable. Very stressful leading up to surgery but it was less hassle than having my tonsils out in many respects. When I woke up and walking around the next day I was amazed at how well I felt.

Full continent and able to get good erections. If tired popping a viagra sorts completely. Post histology I was T2c 3+4 50% nerve sparing and very close to breaking out. Negative margins.

Yeah.   In hindsight I agree.  I was always going to go down the surgery route  .  Cheers
