hi, due to dad's rise in psa and bone pain he was sent for an mri today where he was told the cancer has spread to the sacrum. Is anyone else living with this? He seems to be quite sore and a bit numb around that area. He's taking painkillers and waiting on the oncologist to be in touch.

Hi Miffy

ask your Onco if SABR treatment could be considered as it worked for me. Some hospitals are trialing this.

thanks guys. Well he was rang today and asked to go in tomorrow to the radiotherapy department. That's all we know for now but can only be a good thing.

I hope it goes okay Miffy - perhaps they are going to give his new bone met a zap to reduce pain?

Sorry to read your loved one is in pain. Its horrible. Hopefully this works for him soon. Is radiotherapy something that will help long term or is it a short term solution for pain alone? Will it actually do some damage to the met?

Also, side effects. How have people's experiences been? Mum and dad have a concert to go to on Sunday, I got them tickets last Christmas so they have waited a long time, I'd be upset for them if they couldn't make it! I know it's not priority and the least of our worries really but for them it's a bit of normality and I don't want that taken away from them. How have people's experiences been in the days after treatment?

the pain is certainly less, the doc says it can take 10 days to feel the full effect. in previous times he managed to go around shopping centre the next day.

How long does the pain relief usually last?
