Hi all.   I was diagnosed with Gleason 3+4  less than 10% pattern 4  T2n0m0 about 4 months ago.  I have opted for surgery about 5 weeks but still don’t have a date. Are the appointments based on clinical stats.   I’m a bit concerned that it might get worse in the time I’ve been waiting.   I know it’s slow growing but how slow     Cheers.  Simon

Hi Simon

Sorry to hear you’re in this position but pleased you e found this forum, it’s a massive resource of help and support!

My husbands stats were identical to yours and he too opted for surgery, that was in August 2023; largely due to the waiting lists at the time and the doctors strikes that were also happening at that time, his surgery didn’t happen until January 2024. The medical team didn’t seem too worried, obviously we were! His cancer remained all contained within the gland and his Gleason on post op pathology remained at 3+4… and so far no reoccurrence of the cancer.

No one can tell you not to worry but I wouldn’t expect a few months to make much difference.

Take care

Debbie

Hi Simon , same gradings as mine and I was diagnosed in March so sounds similar , I have just booked for surgery which is 22nd August , I could have had it earlier but have other things on, consultant doesn’t think this kind of time scale is anything to worry about so am hoping he is right 🤞👍

Hi Simon.

You'll be okay, mate. During Covid restrictions many procedures and treatments were delayed by months but outcomes remained similar.

Good luck.👍

Hi Simon

I waited just over 2 months for my surgery ,I had a similar diagnosis to yourself.

Have you thought about telling your surgeon that you would step in if there was a cancellation.

My cousin was waiting for surgery scheduled for 30 July ,he told his surgeon that if a cancellation came up he would step in .

On the 10 July at 9.00 am he had a call from the hospital ,at 11.00 am he was admitted ,at 1.00 pm he was having surgery.

It’s worth a try.

Good luck 👍

Thanks all.  It’s only been 5 weeks but you get a bit paranoid that things  might get worse.    The worse thing is I’m not really forward to the surgery but at the stage now I just want it over to start getting back to normal.   ( ish ).  Cheers Simon
